Any suggestions as to what to pack?

We've got our bags, we've got some of the clothing ... but not all. some of the toiletries ... but not all. But what are must haves?

Hmmm,

1. maps from AAA - for CA to Colorado (first leg of the trip)
2. for Colorado to Illinois (2nd leg of the trip)
3. for Illinois to Kentucky (3rd ....)
4. for Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia and Washington DC (last ....)
5. map from Amtrak - of the whole USA since we'll be crossing the middle of the country.
6. gum ... for the high altitude in the Rockies... and the plane trip home.
7. bug spray, sun block, ...
8. hat? Anyone know of a good, packable hat for a BIG head? Female version preferred.
9. address book with your address - for a postcard from one of our places! Send us your address.
