Whew! It's been an incredibly busy day here in Denver! After a breakfast at Beruger's Bagels (Yum!) we headed over to the Denver Mint. The tour we took was incredibly informative. Did you know that the Denver Mint has never been succesfully robbed? One employee with wooden leg secretly smuggeled gold out of he vaults, but was captured soon.
After resting for a while (busy day!) we tried out a German resturaunt. The name of it was "Cafe Berlin." As a family, we unanimusly decided that this was the best food we had on our trip. Some of the foods we ate included: Wiener Shnitzel (Breaded and fried veil with sauted onions,) Koulrouladen (Cabbage stuffed with beef and topped with gravy) Spatzle (Potato like noodles in a mushroom sauce) and apple strusel. After that great meal, we headed to the gold - domed capital building. After looking at the grand architecture, we went to a local history mueseum. We learned a lot about Colarado's history, expecially the Colarado gold rush. It's been an incredibly busy daay, but we look forard to more of them. Look for more tomorrow!
good job Chris. Sounds like you all are having a fabulous time. I am so happy. Tell Jonathan, Echo the Gecho is doing great.
ReplyDeleteThis trip sounds fantastic! Great pictures...i headed down memory lane while viewing the cozy room and the Allsman men playing a boardgame. Back in olden days, the renllua family took a train trip across the us. Loved Chris' description of good food. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this wonderful trip with us!
ReplyDeleteSo you like "Schnitzel, Kohlrouladen and SpƤtzle" - I guess you have to come to Germany on your next trip then. Ihr seid alle herzlich eingeladen!!! I will cook German food for you then.
Looking forward to your pictures from Chicago. Roland and I have been there too, a few years ago though.
Love, Brigitte
